The recreation of great bronze masterworks has been a time honored craft dating from classical antiquity. Through the Renaissance, the 17th and 18th centuries, the great revival and impetus of the last century, and the revival again in the present day, interest in bronze sculpture remains strong. Although modern technology has contributed some refinements to insure more uniform quality, the technique has remained basically unchanged for some 6000 years.

The lost wax ("cire perdu") method is a complicated process involving much labor-intensive interaction. The reward is in the finished sculpture, which may be a source of joy and beauty throughout time, for bronze is the most lasting of all mediums through which artistic creation is expressed and its beauty enhances with age.
